I've had a ton of stress on me lately, with school and work. There are plenty of ways to deal with stress, and it's true that having a lot of stress on you makes your body more prone to illness. So, I visited my mom tonight. I am still here, actually. And, we are remodelling a room by taking down the walls, the ceiling, and rebuilding it all. For those of you that don't know, I'm a Trading Spaces, Bob Villa's Home Again, This Old House, etc. FREAK. Just ask TF. I absolutely LOVE getting to remodel rooms, or even just give them a totally different look through a paint job and new furniture. So, I tore down all of the drywall that I could in the room my mom is planning on rebuilding in the next month or so. It was a tremendous stress relief. I loved it. I usually don't do things that are so destructive. I have a punching bag, and taking out my stress on it is usually it's function. But, this time, it was just nice to tear the wall down...literally. And, I was wondering how you all like to take out your stress. Or maybe you don't get stressed at all. I've just noticed talk of midterms; I know the feeling. They are killer stress creators, so I figured some of you were feeling it, too. So, how do you deal with your stress? (In case you couldn't tell, I am a Type A Personality...not completely by any means, but when it comes to taking on stress, that's the personality type I fit. I'm working on being more like a Type B, though. And, I have been for a while.) |

I usually sink into depression which I combat (more like aid) with alcohol. Sad but true.

To relieve stress I play drums... Or piano, I started figuring out piano recently. I love banging on it like Ben Folds. And I've been playing Features songs on piano. If you hear "See You Through" coming out of the MTSU music building practice rooms, that's me.

My new fun way to relieve stress is going to Third Coast Clay beside Hastings... I went yesterday, actually, and painted a vase, in a symbolic way that I'm hoping with reflect how I was feeling at the time (you know, after they bake it and whatnot).. And, of course, going to a party every now and then helps too.. especially when Ceeze' and friends are there to entertain me with a song or two! What lovely voices they have... And my all-time favorite stress reliever is, of course, driving around aimlessly singing along with the radio at the top of my lungs.. I know I've done some good when my throat hurts at the end of the trip. |

in stressful situations, i inadvertently act bitchy towards exliontamer. then he comments on said bitchiness and it makes me more stressed out. moral of the story: never take your stress out on others, especially the ones you hold close to your heart. maybe i should take up power-walking or something. |

Makes you wonder what him, Helen, Barney and Thelma Lou talk about at the Snappy Lunch Diner over there in Mt. Pilot. Welcome to the board So, as I was talking to a friend of mine last night, we started discussing shows like Matlock and Murder She Wrote. I thought I was the only one who still watched these things, but apparently I'm not...That's reassuring. I love trying to solve the case. I've come pretty close a couple of times, especially with Murder She Wrote. But, I have yet to figure out the FULL solution. To keep myself on the subject, I think I am going to start refinishing furniture now, too. I worked on my bed over the summer. I revived it but stripping it and resanding then repainting it. It had 3 layers of paint, so it took a long time. But, when I finish a project I have get this sense of achievement. I love it. So, that's pretty good stress relief, too. |

If I am in major stress mode, I: 1. Chain Smoke and 2. Cry for a short period once per day The chain smoking is self explanatory. The crying is wierd, but when you are under a tremendous amount of stress for a prolonged period, you kind of need some release. Usually, things will add up all day and then one last thing goes wrong and I just can't help it. Then I am fine! |

I usually relieve stress by making an Excel spreadsheet of some sort that organizes my comics, cds, or Top 100 tv shows. On the topic of "Golden Girls" I, upon consulting my spreadsheet, can say that it is my #18 favorite show of all time. I love it, even though that apparently puts all of my heterosexuality into question. On the topic of "Trading Spaces," I have to use that as a springboard to talk about what IWElvis, HSSoma and myself discovered this weekend: TLC's "What Not To Wear." Oh wow that show is hilarious. Basically, these two horribly dressed stylists ridicule and harrass someone dressed even worse than themselves, and they eventually give them a makeover (after giving the person a couple of complexes). We also discovered a great show called "Cheaters" that is so trashy it can only come on after 2 AM. And, I agree that going to Florida can relieve stress. As well as a long game of Four Square. -------------------- ~Digsy S. Slattery My New York City Exploits |

i just thought of another show that is relaxing for me. full house. it's the best show ever for relieving stress (aside from the golden girls). it's all just so perfect and michelle is so cute that it just makes you want to smile and live in a family where you sit down and have breakfast together and smile politely and don't get rushed. (aka-leave it to beaver....but that's another story) when i was little, my best friend and i never missed an episode of full house but we referred to it as "michelle is on!!!!" it was so cute. i miss those days. i want to be 6 again.....or younger even. anyway, do any of you enjoy full house? "Full House" is definitely a guilty pleasure. I knew that the show sucked back then, and I still know that it is horrible, but I still watch it. It is our generation's "The Brady Bunch." I'm just waiting for a "Full House" E! True Hollywood Story.

Eating French Fries are a good way to relieve stress, or Freedom Fries as the Bush administration has ordered them renamed. And I wanted to see more of the Gia plot on Full House...the forcing Stephanie to smoke cigarettes and go to a make out party left me wanting more scandal. |

With one test behind me and two more to go this week, I am dealing with a great deal of stress. But, I have found that right after a test, when I am walking out of the room, I feel like a million dollars. So, Friday, I plan on relieving my stress by leaving the room after my Experimental Psych test and then going to Chattanooga to meet up with TF. Two very good antecdotes for stress relief in one day. YAY. Oh, and I liked Gia, too. (Edited by StephanieW at 9:59 pm on Mar. 12, 2003) |

7th heaven is my guiltiest of guilty pleasures. i used to be obsessed with it. i'd watch it at least once a day (sometimes twice). i never watched the newer episodes though. the cast is all screwed up now. i don't watch that much tv anymore. i'm just tried cherry cola flavored mike and ikes....odd but enjoyable. -------------------- Are you Wigglin? |

I'm glad to hear someone else affirm the guilty-pleasureness of 7th Heaven. It is undisputedly a terrible show, and I think sometimes I watch it just to make me mad. I loved it that even the "drunk" episode didn't actually entail the kid getting drunk of his own accord. Someone spiked the punch and he seriously couldn't taste it but still got in a lot of trouble and was considered totally demoralized. Neuboy thinks the dad on the show kind of looks likea much older Matt Meeks but I don't really see it.

the best ep of full house, by far, was when danny's sister came in town to visit and hooked up with joey. as a result, uncle jesse made out with a chimpanzee. jesse was actually trying so hard not to laugh during that scene, but how do you not start cracking up while a monkey licks your face?!? classic.

I hate "Full House" more than any show in the universe. I never found it cute, charming, or funny. I thought it was HORRIBLE! I'll take "Who's the Boss?," "Growing Pains," or "Mr. Belvedere" any day. When I was a kid, I knew a lady who thought I looked just like Wesley on "Mr. Belvedere," but I never saw the connection. On a "Full House" note, I met John Stamos briefly once. However, unlike Sina's celebrity stories, mine doesn't end with alcohol or a bizarre sexual encounter. -------------------- grass stains, airplanes, anything and everything |

I used to love Full House when I was little, but I hated the last few seasons and never watched those. I cannot watch it now. I think its terrible. Who's The Boss? on the other hand, I have always loved and always will. It brings back such fond memories from my childhood. I love it. . . That crazy Tony Danza. Growing Pains has also always been one of my favorites, and I would still love to watch it but can never catch it on. 7th Heaven makes me sick. I hate it more than any other TV show I can think of. I'm getting mad thinking about it. -------------------- But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town? |

I recently saw Kirk Cameron preaching on a Christian t.v. station. He also starred in the movie based on those awful Left Behind books that you see at every Wal-Mart. Oh, and YDDD and I were lucky enought to catch the second half of the Full House movie on t.v. last month. Interesting, I hadn't seen Kirk in years; now he's popping up in all kinds of bad media.
