Oh my goodness, I'm starving. Why did you have to mention the old Red Rose spinach deluxe? WHY??? I want one so badly. I think I'm going to eat my fake turkey on white bread sandwich now that I have packed for lunch. EDIT: I just ate my sandwich, and I want more. Spinach deluxe is good as I recall. I was in Murfreesboro this weekend and had the Red Rose's veggie burger for the first time since last May... To my dismay, they are now smaller than they used to be. I used to consider those things as a potential candidate for a reason for living. So sad...........

I had the veggie sandwhich at Atlanta Bread Co. on Valentine's and it was very good. The best part of it was the dill spread, which gets me thinking about the Red Rose's herb cream cheese. Now that was my reason for living. Well, not really. I wonder if they still have it (Edited by iwantelvis at 5:01 pm on Feb. 23, 2004) |

Sandwiches rock. I never get tired of a really good turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, swiss, cheese, pickles, and honey mustard. Veggie burgers are also wonderful. I much prefer them to beef burgers. I really like the v. burgers at the Cooker, of all places. |

When I make a sandwich at home, it's pretty much always either ham or roasted turkey on whole wheat bread with a little bit of Miracle Whip or mayo, depending on what kind of mood I'm in or what's around. I generally like my sandwiches "plain," without a bunch of stuff on them. If I'm going to have lettuce, tomato, etc, it has to be VERY fresh and VERY high quality. I can't stand soggy lettuce or tomato. Also on the topic of sandwiches, I'll tell you what I've been addicted to lately. We just got this new restaurant in Bellevue called Penn Station East Coast Subs. Their Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is absolutely the best I've ever had in my life, and I don't normally like cheesesteak sandwiches. I haven't even gotten around to trying anything else at this place, because this sandwich is so good that I have to get it every time I go there. In addition to the steak, onions, mushrooms and provolone that come on it, I also get spicy mustard and mayo and banana peppers. I swear if they were open this late, I'd go get one right now. well. Some of you may know of my affection for condiments. Some of the best, cheapest sandwiches you'll ever come by have no actual substance to them. Ketchup Mayonnaise Ketchup and mayonnaise Ketchup and spicy brown mustard Mayonnaise and spicy brown mustard Mayonnaise and honey mustard Peanut butter and miracle whip Sandwiches such as the Ketchup and mayonnaise also go well with cheese and slices of tomato, in which case you've just made the Not-A-Burger. To change it up, I sometimes toast the bread for these sandwiches. Another favourite dish of mine that is actually not a sandwich would be the Not-A-Potato: Melted Butter, Melted Cheese, Sour Cream, Bacon Bits, salt to taste. You can put this on top of Triscuits for a very tasty treat. lets discuss grilled cheese. i have never liked grilled cheese sandwiches because they were so bland and just dont go well with hot sauce. maybe lots of jalepeños would be good. anyways, the ones ive liked were the ones in elementary school (where the bread was so crunchy that it broke teeth). ever since fourth grade i've been trying to make my bread that crunchy and it just wont happen. i'm really craving banana peppers right now. i can't wait until work. -------------------- i will dig a tunnel from my window to yours. |
